I love to inspire, educate and empower those around me. I have moulded my lifestyle with the aim of setting a positive example for others. I am also well known for my love affair with red wine… but we all have our vices, right? Balance is a vital part of a healthy life.

Fitness has always been a large part of my life. I will never forget my first CrossFit experience in 2010 with Colin and Andy. It took a lot of convincing to get me there, but after the first session I was hooked. Thanks guys, I spent the following two years coaching with CrossFit Wolfe Baghdad which reaches out to athletes in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and beyond.

I am passionate about helping people reach their full potential and accomplish their goals. I am dedicated in providing positive coaching and supporting the successful development of others physically and mentally, both inside and outside the gym.

CrossFit is as challenging as it is rewarding. I love to watch participants experience emotions like shock and excitement when they achieve something they never thought they could… their first kipping pull-up or clean and jerk. Satisfaction right there!

I’ve been a personal trainer and group class instructor for over five years and have worked with clients from all walks of life with an immense variety of different goals. I’ve helped hundreds of people become fitter, stronger and more confident and I look forward to being a part of your journey as well. I’ve been involved in a multitude of sports my entire life, union, baseball, boxing to name a few, but the last couple of years my real passion has been in weightlifting, CrossFit, and triathlons.

The reason I became a CrossFit coach is because I believe CrossFit is the best approach to achieving not just health, but super wellness. Bang for your buck, CrossFit delivers the best value on time of any training methodology. CrossFit is fitness made efficient, an insurmountable challenge that evolves as the sport evolves, a community that supports you but keeps you honest, a sport that humbles you but also uplifts you. CrossFit is demanding work and sometimes grueling but it’s also a hell of a lot of fun and super rewarding!

I can’t emphasis enough how useful and important it is to have the support of a friendly community behind you when you’re trying to achieve something as personal and intimate as looking after your health and becoming a better version of you. I can say without a doubt, the Ultra community is one of the most welcoming and supportive environments you’re likely to ever find.

I have always been a competitive person and competed at State and National level for gymnastics and karate during my school years. When I went to uni I kept fit through running and swimming, although I always felt something was missing. I started CrossFit in 2012 and I instantly felt a connection, it suited my competitive nature perfectly and I was able to use my gymnastics skills that I had loved so much.

Nothing beats the feeling of smashing a goal after weeks or months of hard work, and as a CrossFit Trainer you get to witness the excitement and confidence this brings to athletes. The best thing is that you don’t only get to see them gain confidence in the box when they achieve their goals, but how it crosses over into all areas of their lives. I love that as a Trainer I get to be a part of a team who are continually trying to push themselves to be better than they were yesterday.

As an avid sports fan and participant of many sports as I grew up, I turned to CrossFit as a way to get back in shape after a few years of very limited sporting participation. The culture and community that CrossFit offers instantly struck a chord and I have been hooked ever since. I have stepped up to a coaching role to pass on my knowledge from my life changing experience. The complexity of the CrossFit regime and the challenges it provides every time you walk in the door is something I want to guide everyone else through as my coaches did for me.

Sport has always been a major part of my, I honestly cant remember a time when I wasn’t playing sport. For my schooling years I swam and played rugby for Brisbane State High. I continued on with rugby playing for many years after school before a torn ACL brought all that to a halt.

I turned to CrossFit in 2019 to keep fit but also to get out of my comfort zone and try something new. I spent a few weeks searching google and visiting a few boxes in my area but knew Ultra was the one from my very first visit.

I fell in love with CrossFit and Ultra instantly. The coaches and members were so willing to help me and enabled me to learn and grow as much as possible and as fast as I wanted to. This sense of community really stood out to me and is the main reason I decided to become a coach.

I love advocating a healthy lifestyle and encouraging people to try new things. Becoming a coach at Ultra is the best way I can do this and I can’t wait to help others improve their health and move better in the gym and in life!

Growing up I was always a competitive person and as an adult I needed to find a sport that gave me the same joy that competing always gave me; CrossFit gave me the opportunity to push myself while also having enormous fun! The first day I stepped into Ultra I knew this is where I wanted to train. The coaches and members were all so welcoming and are with you through all your PB’s as well as your struggles. I encourage anyone who is considering CrossFit to come into Ultra and see for yourself how amazing it is.

Throughout my whole life I’ve had a very on-and-off again relationship with health, fitness and well-being. I played netball and touch football throughout school, but it was never my thing. It wasn’t until I joined a women’s only functional fitness gym in 2018 that I finally found my thing. I was instantly hooked and I loved that I could be a part of a movement that enables any person of any age, weight, size and ability to get involved and get active! You didn’t need to be the world’s greatest athlete to do it, you just had to say yes to the challenge!

Community and spirit are really what makes a CrossFit gym so special and ultimately, what makes you come back. As a trainer at Ultra, I cannot wait to share my journey and knowledge with the members and hopefully help someone take that step forward on their own journey.

Joy Boy Jamie

Qualifications:
CF Level 1

Hi! I’m Jamie and I’ve been a part of Ultra since June 2018 and am also Ultra’s ‘Joy Boy’. I have always had a passion for health and fitness, having grown up playing a lot of squash, tennis and football (soccer), alongside weight and resistance training. Upon moving to Australia in 2017, I had started to grow tired of commercial gyms and the monotony of basic weight training and, following an injury layoff in early 2018, I stumbled upon Ultra’s Community Class whilst searching for a new environment to reinvigorate my training. Having watched the occasional CrossFit competition on TV, I was keen to try it – it was a no brainer to give the Community Class a try.

From the moment I set foot in the gym, Ultra has welcomed me with open arms and I’ve never come across such a warm, friendly community, which was essential for me having moved across the world. Each of the coaches have guided me on my journey so far and the box has provided me with a new perspective of fitness. I pride myself on being approachable and supportive and love celebrating other peoples’ wins, which I think makes me a good fit in the CrossFit world. I am absolutely delighted to be a part of the team at Ultra and am driven to give back to the community that has given me so much fulfilment and joy.

I am Maicol and I’ve moved here from Brazil with my beautiful wife. I’ve been in the fitness field for 14 years and started CrossFit in 2013. Like many, I started because I wanted to try something different and very quickly it turned into my passion. Being a coach is really awesome and rewarding for me. It’s that moment you see someone realise they can do things they never thought they could do. When I help someone get past their fears and go beyond their limits, I feel I’m doing what I love. What I like the most about this sport is to see people moving well, particularly those who were once told they couldn’t do something… And here they are moving well and committing to improving their life and overall health. Fun Fact – I’m also a professional in international business and finance.
